A Yosemite Adventure Elopement at Taft Point

Sarah & Josh – An Epic 2020 Taft Point Adventure Elopement

A Yosemite Elopement at Taft Point is something dreams are made of!

Sarah & Josh didn’t want much for their Yosemite elopement. All they knew is that they wanted some place stunning, and they wanted to get sunset photos.  They were not from the west coast. So they didn’t know just how amazing our sunsets are, they have only seen photos. Even though their wedding was in October, Yosemite and Taft Point  are still absolutely breath-taking.

We started at their airbnb outside the park in west Yosemite. It was a slow afternoon filled with mimosas and laughs. Taking our time getting ready while Sarah got her markup and hair done to perfection. She was utterly ravishing when she was all done. I for one really loved the fact that Sarah wanted to have her converse sneakers as her wedding shoes. She didn’t want to go full on hiking boots, but she knew that heels were not ideal what so ever for being in the dirt and on the hiking trails. It was the perfect accessory.

I love the fact that they were there together helping each other get ready for the day. It is something that i wish more couples would do more often is get ready for your wedding day together. It’s so much more intimate that way and really makes the day so much more less stressful. It was however important to Sarah that Josh not see her in her dress before the ceremony. So once we got to the location where the ceremony was going to be, Sarah and her ladies ducked behind a big rock and she got dressed right there! It was quite funny and all of us ladies were laughing.

This is what you can expect from a Yosemite elopement with me. Things to be light hearted, fun, and even silly! Once Sarah was in her dress it was time for the big reveal. And seeing the look on Josh’s face would make any mother cry. He is so crazy madly deeply in love with Sarah. It was a look of pure joy and love. Listening to them saying their vows, on top of a rock, with half dome in the background, it really does take your breath away.

This place is magical. I love what I do. I love being able to be there for couples who want to get married in such a stunning location. Yosemite elopements have been on the top of my list of favorite places to see a couple get married. It’s likely because the views are epic beyond measure. But knowing that you’re pledging your life and love to someone in a place that only God could have created speaks to a deep part in my heart. I have been shooting couples getting married for over a decade now and I still get super emotional myself about it.

After they said their vows and took a few more photos at Half Dome in the background, we headed on over to the trailhead of Taft point. We seriously lucked out on how few of people we saw on the way there. It was a perfect day and the most amazing sunset. I had to pinch myself! How is this moment real? How did we all get so lucky that today would be the most perfect day? There was very little tourists, no hiccups, no wild fires, and no drama. It exactly what a Yosemite elopement should be!

After I came down from cloud nine, gave both Sarah and Josh a hug, it was time to call it a night. I am so thankful for this job, all my amazing couples, and for places like Yosemite to exist. I sincerely hope you enjoy looking the photos as much as I did taking them!
