Kendra & Eric Engagement Session
A story about a Stunning Engagement Session at Cape Kiwanda
Kendra and I grew up in the same town of Port Angeles. We never fully met until a year before she met Eric. She had been a fan for years and I had taken her photo a few times for fun. So there was already a level of trust between us. So when she moved to Oregon I was sad to lose a friend. But when she started dating Eric my ears perked up when she said that she might have found “the one!” Seeing how happy he makes her and she makes him makes my heart swell with joy.
They are a wonderful couple and have a wonderfully adventurous relationship. They LOVE to go quading at the sand dunes in Oregon. They enjoy roughhousing with their very hyper Pit bull Rousey. When I came down to do these photos they opened their home to me to stay there and Rousey was on my lap pretty much every second. But I love dogs, so it was nice having a cuddle buddy. The next morning we headed out from their home in Albany to famous Cape Kiwanda!
Cape Kiwanda is one of those places that you think only exists in fairy tales. Seriously, this place really exists. The dreamy sand dunes and the gorgeous towering rock formation with the ocean right next to it? And you have to hike to it so that weeds out a lot of people getting in the way for photos. When you get to the top, you can see the coast line for miles. GAH! This place is stunning.
Whenever I shoot an Engagement Session, I try to capture as much personality in the photos as I possibly can. These guys are so photogenic that I didn’t really have to pose them very much at all. Cape Kiwanda practically screams I’M STUNNING! at people as you drive by it.
One funny thing. As my husband and I were trying to find this place the first time we came here, our GPS took us to a totally different place and down somebody’s driveway. It was quite the experience.
It was cool and cloudy out but that always made it so there was less people. It was probably one of the hardest sessions I have done simply because of hiking up a mountain of sand is crazy hard! But once I got home and saw the photos, I would have climbed Mt. Everest for them! Thank you so much you two for allowing me to capture your love for one another so perfectly. I can’t wait for my next session there, the place is epic and beautiful! Thank you so much for watching.
Here’s an Update. This same couple will be getting Married in 2020 down in Philomath, Oregon. This quaint little town is just to the west of Corvallis. One of the areas we may be shooting at is Mary’s Peak. This place really reminds me of home with the panoramic vistas and hikes all over the place.
